The SCAPE 7 Public Art Christchurch Biennial will showcase the
work of local, national and international artists from September 27
- November 10.
As an introduction to SCAPE 7, Auckland Art Gallery Principal
Curator, Zara Stanhope, will deliver a keynote address entitled
'The Problem of Public Art'. This lecture investigates the
potential of, and challenges for, new and traditional forms of
public art today.
A panel discussion will follow in the afternoon, which looks at
'Objects, Environments, Actions: Public Art in the Transitional
The panel is chaired by Christchurch-based writer, curator and
art historian Lara Strongman and includes: Christchurch Art Gallery
Senior Curator Justin Paton, Gap Filler founder Coralie Winn,
SCAPE 7 curator
(and Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art Assistant
Director-Curatorial & Digital) Blair French.
